The Trying Game

Panthers Maul Beavers in 86-0 Smackdown

It was indeed another rough day for the Babson United Rugby Club who travelled for the third year in a row by whatever means necessary to Middlebury for their annual attempt at scoring a point against the MCRC. Bettering last year's win (see Partly Cloudy, Chance of Deluge) over the Beavers by 50 points Middlebury pulled out all stops, the A side starters, and even shortened the game clock by 9 minutes in order to limit the carnage.

Mad props to the Beavers for putting up with this. With their effort Babson showed "character, committment to their club and to us. I was very impressed by this." said Coach Ward. As for his team play Coach Ward noted "The boys played the best rugby so far, with good phases linking the backs and the forwards together."

More stories about eating Shrimp From Oklahoma to follow. Maybe even some pictures...

Next up:
Middlebury AT St. Mike's, Saturday 10/14/06
This will NOT be a smackdown rerun... See last year's St. Mike's match comments here.
A-side match play starts at 2:00pm following the Middlebury Women's match.
